Metal and master pieces: Nailsea Shedders forge ahead with popular taster Arts and Crafts Courses at No 65 High Street.

The Nailsea Shedders new taster Arts and Crafts Courses at No 65 High Street have been running since Christmas 2024 and are a big hit with participants who are making magical and creative designs.  Recently the class focussed on constructing metal roses.  How fabulous were these!  The metal roses looked spectacularly real and were very hard to distinguish from a real rose.

The Arts and Craft courses are held at No 65 High Street on most alternate Wednesdays, generally  between 10.00am -12 Noon.

The following craft dates are:

  • 23 April & 7 May: Wood turning (Carey’s Portishead)
  • 2l May: How to paint – Techniques (N0 65)

Other classes this year have included, Neuro graphic Art, Cyanotype Printing, Bubble Art and painting Bubble Drops. Future classes will involve repairing chair covers, French Polishing, making a teardrop bamboo bug and much more.  Keep a watch on the Nailsea Council Website page, No 65 hub, on  https://www.nailseatowncouncil.gov.uk/65-hub/whats-on/ for details of what’s on!

  • Tea and coffee will be provided
  • Most materials are free of charge.  You can bring your own materials if you prefer

These sessions are proving very popular so please hurry to sign up as the spaces on the Arts and Crafts courses will be limited to six to ten people.   Find out more on our website https://www.nailseashedders.org/nailsea-shedders-arts-and-crafts-course/

Derek Broomfield the main person running the courses,  the tutor of the class making metal roses says “We are really pleased at the response to these classes and everyone who has attended has really enjoyed meeting new people and learning new crafty skills.  We were very happy to support Nailsea Town Council events by making the Reindeers for the Christmas Reindeer Hunt and now we are making the rabbits for the Easter Rabbit Hunt.  Crafts are such fun the teach and learn!”
